nosy sends your circle a few small prompts a week and unlocks everyone's answers together every Sunday. This page explains what that means for your information.
What we collect
When you sign in with Apple, we receive an identifier for your account, your name if you choose to share it, and your email address (your own, or Apple's private relay address). You then add the rest:
- Your profile: your name, your birthday, and a location you type in yourself (nosy asks for all three when you sign up), and optionally a profile photo.
- Your circle: its name, its invite code, and who belongs to it.
- What you submit: answers (text, poll choices, and photos), questions and polls you write for your circle, and reactions and comments on other people's answers.
- Your stats: how many answers you have given and your week streak.
- Reports: if you report someone, we receive your name, the name of the person you reported, the account identifiers for both of you, the circle, and the reason you chose.
nosy does not use your device's location. The location on your profile is text you type. Your notification settings are stored on your device. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking tools.
How we use it
To run the app: sign you in, deliver your circle's prompts, unlock the Sunday Dispatch, schedule reminders on your device, send a one-time welcome email when you sign up, and review reports of misuse. We do not sell your information.
Who sees it
- Your circle's members can see your name, photo, birthday, location, answer count, and streak.
- nosy does not show your answers to your circle until the Sunday reveal. Tuesday's quickfire answers are shown that evening without names.
- nosy does not show your answers to anyone outside your circle. Anyone who has your circle's invite code can join it, so share the code only with people you want in.
Services we rely on
Apple handles sign-in. Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) stores accounts and circle data. Cloudflare hosts this website and relays our emails, and Resend sends the welcome email and the reports we receive. These providers process information on our behalf to provide their service, and Google and Cloudflare receive technical information such as your IP address when the app connects.
Deleting your information
You can delete your account in the app: Settings, then Delete account. That removes your answers and photos, your profile, and your nosy account, and revokes the link to your Apple ID. It is permanent.
Comments and reactions you left on other people's answers can remain in a circle's history. Email us and we will remove them. You can also email us to ask for a copy of your information or to have it deleted.
Blocking and reporting
From any member's profile you can block them, which hides their answers, comments, and reactions from you on your device, or report them. Reports go to our inbox and we review each one.
Children
nosy is for people 13 and older. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top of this page.
